Street Fighter X Tekken Arcade Stick QCB+Arcade-Button-MPunch+Arcade-Button-MKick

Description[]

Executed by performing a quarter-circle back motion and pressing Medium Punch and Medium Kick simultaneously, the user can attack with both characters at the same time, similar to Marvel vs. Capcom and its tag team mechanics. A Cross Assault requires a full Cross Gauge in order to use. Unlike the Marvel vs. Capcom equivalent, the player only controls one character. When playing solo the player who initiated Cross Assault will be in control of the partner character. The point character who was out when Cross Assault was started is controlled by the CPU or a human player if the player has a human partner. At the end of the Cross Assault the team positions are switched.

When a player has a partner, they will instead be in control of their chosen character, not take control of the lead character. For example if the player has a partner by either PSN (PlayStation Network) online or local multiplayer and chooses Ken, while the partner uses Kazuya. If the Ken player uses Cross Assault the player will still be in control of Ken while their partner will control Kazuya, this will be true in reverse if the Kazuya player initiates Cross Assault. The player who chose Ken will still be Ken and the player who chose Kazuya will still be Kazuya regardless of the team formation.

Lastly it should be noted that while in Street X Tekken throws have cinematics, they are disabled during Cross Assault. This makes throws look more like in the Street Fighter IV series. The same applies to Command Grabs with Cinematics such as Spinning Pile Driver.

Tactics[]

Cross Assault has multiple uses. The most immediate is that it splits both of your character's health by half. An example would be if your lead has 50% health and your partner has not taken any damage. The game will split both characters in half to make them the same percent.

Another notable benefit is that both characters get an infinite EX Meter. You can spam EX moves and cause chip damage, be warned that during Cross Assault if a Super is used the super will immediately end Cross Assault. On the same token Super Charge Supers do not end the Cross Assault. They do however still take Cross Assault time during their startup and cinematics. Cross Art is not available during Cross Assault.

Interaction with Super Arts and Cross Arts[]

Super Arts[]

If one of the two combatants in a Cross Assault state gets hit with a Super Art that has a cinematic attached to it such as Yoroitoshi the cinematic goes on as usual. Since cinematic attacks only can affect one opponent only one hit, the damage is distributed among both combatants but the percent of health stays the same for characters with different HP. This is because the damage is taken from the total health pool in percents rather than taking the same amount for each character so for example as Ibuki has 900 HP and Marshal Law has 1000 they would both be left with the same health instead of both characters taking 150 for their own total health pool.

If during a cinematic the Cross Assault bar runs out the character who is being affected will end up taking the brunt of the damage. This mostly affects multi-hitting supers such as the aforementioned Yoroitoshi. Ibuki does a total of 300 HP damage with it but does it in multiple weaker hits, so if the bar runs out while the super is in effect the hits while Cross Assault was active the hits while the assault was still active will be distributed evenly but in the same cinematic after the bar runs out the affected character will be taking health to their own bar. In this instance whoever was on point during the Cross Assault for both teams will be controllable.

For non cinematic Super Arts such as the projectile portion of Ibuki's Yoroitoshi damage is distributed similarly, whoever in this case both opponents could get caught in the blast and when this happens both characters in the team will receive damage. As this portion does 250 damage total assuming all hits connect Ibuki will do a distributed 400 damage among her two opponents. In every instance of a Super Art connecting the regular rules apply such as not doing recoverable Provisional Damage.

Cross Arts[]

Cross Arts when connecting to either Cross Assault opponent still plays the same in terms of how it works for the person who connected it. It will still do the combined damage total of the initial Cross Art and the follow up partner's Super Art and switch the on play character for the person who used it. However for the person affected by it Cross Art deviates from the norm a bit. Cross Art ends Cross Assault instantly when it successfully connects and the character hit will be the one in play regardless who was put in the front place by said Cross Assault, for example if Ibuki uses Cross Assault while she is in play and Chun-Li becomes the lead if Ibuki is hit by Cross Art she will be forced to be lead once again when the sequence is over. As this damage is taken solely by the character hit, it is recommended for players to learn the health values of each individual character as frailer characters like Ibuki at 900 HP are more likely to be KO'd by the sequence than others such as Jin who is at 1000. Some rules of thumb to remember are that in this game every female character is at least below average HP at 950 (with some even less), all Tekken males are at least 1000 and bigger characters such as Bob, Zangief, and Jack-X have even more as of the latest patch.
