Dark Sakura, also known as Sunburned/Suntanned Sakura (日焼けしたさくら Hiyakeshita Sakura?), is a video game character originating from the Marvel vs. Capcom series, first appearing in Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter as a secret fighter. This is a form Sakura has taken after accidently being burnt by the sun, gaining abilities similiar to users of the Satsui no Hado, except without the loss of humanity.

Appearance

In Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter, Dark Sakura is a secret character who utilizes a mixed moveset between her normal self and Akuma/Evil Ryu, including performing the Hadoken horizontally instead of diagonally.

Though Dark Sakura is not an individual character in Marvel vs. Capcom 2, she is now a Hyper Combo transformation for regular Sakura.

Story

During her summer vacations, Sakura trained with Ryu in a tropical beach, learning many new techniques and getting tanned.[1]

Taking a break between matches, Sakura laid down in a field and fell asleep. When she awoke, she found herself unusually sunburned for the short duration that she had lain there.[citation needed] Though slightly in pain, she proceeded to compete in the effort to defeat Apocalypse. However, not only did she find that her original fighting style had returned, she was even more powerful than before. Over the course of the events, her sunburned faded and her fighting abilities returned to the way they were when she first arrived.[citation needed]

Comics

In UDON's Super Street Fighter comics, Sakura falls to the Satsui no Hado and becomes Dark Sakura while fighting both Akuma and Ryu. She eventaully loses and returns to normal when Ryu absorbs the dark power from her.[2]

Trivia

  • Of all characters, with the exception of Rogue (who uses an X instead of a kanji) in X-Men vs. Street Fighter, who can perform the Shun Goku Satsu (including those from Capcom crossovers) Dark Sakura is the only one that does not have a personal kanji appear at the conclusion of the Hyper Combo.
