Rolento hitting his opponent with a jumping fierce enabled by Mekong Delta Escape,

The Mekong Delta Escape (メコンデルタエスケイプ Mekon Deruta Esukeipu?) is one of Rolento's special attacks, introduced in the Street Fighter Alpha series.

Input
All appearances Arcade Stick QCB+Arcade Button Kick (Arcade-Stick-Left and Arcade-Stick-Right to glide, follow-up with Arcade Button Punch or Arcade Button Kick)

Description[]

Executed by performing a quarter-circle backward motion? and pressing kick, Rolento jumps backwards, away from the opponent and toward the edge of the screen. When he reaches the edge of the screen, he kick-jumps away from it. From here, Rolento has many options: pressing forward and backward controls his jump (like Vega's Flying Barcelona Attack), and pressing any attack button will execute Rolento's usual jumping attack for that button.

The EX Special version introduced in Street Fighter X Tekken has Rolento jump much faster to and from the wall, and the respective followup attack works similar to the one from EX Mekong Delta Air-Raid.

Tactics[]

The attack can be used as a method of escape (by jumping and then controlling the jump so as to land far from the opponent) or as a way to evade a single attack and quickly punish it (by attacking with, for example, heavy punch). It can also be used purely aggressively as a jump-in attack. The fact that the jump is fairly telegraphed is compensated for by the fact that the angle is different from a usual jump-in, and is relatively safe, making it important for "keep away" Rolento players.

Etymology[]

The attack, like many in Rolento's repertoire, is named for the Mekong River Delta in Vietnam, suggesting that Rolento may be a veteran of that war.
