Angry Video Game Nerd (Episode 85) Street Fighter 2010

How does the nerd ring in a new year? A new decade? By reviewing a game before it's time! Street Fighter 2010 was released by Capcom for the NES in 1990 and is unlike any other in the series sending the Nerd into numerous fits regarding both timeline and continuity. Baffled and disappointed by the expectations of Capcom and the actual reality of 2010, the Nerd is even more perplexed by the gameplay style.

Not the traditional Street Fighter tournament style fighting action, this side scrolling, run and gun platformer is as unforgiving as it is difficult. This change of pace forces the Nerd into a cavalcade of bonus reviews, featuring "Fighting Street" (Street Fighter One) on the TurboGrafx-CD and Street Fighter: The Movie on Sega Saturn. After a brief history lesson on the TurboGrafx's place in early 1990's console war history, and those respective games the Nerd returns to vanquish the remaining stages of the game he set out to review.

He determines that if not for its poor controls, Street Fighter 2010 would not have been a bad game, maybe even an NES classic. Unlimited continues bait the player into battling on for hours until reaching one of the most daunting final boss gauntlets in gaming history. In spite of the difficult series of fights and an unforgiving clock continuously ticking away the Nerd finds a way to prevail and bring in 2010 with a hard fought victory.
