Solar Eclipse

Solar Eclipse is a stage introduced in Super Street Fighter IV. It takes place in Central Africa.

Description

The stage takes place in the African Savannah at a watering hole, located close to the Shadaloo airfield, during an eclipse. There are numerous African fauna watching the battle, including meerkats, hippos, zebra and giraffe, amongst other wildlife. During certain times, a solar eclipse happens for a moment. Once the solar eclipse clears, 3 hippos will get close to the screen to get a better view of the fighters.

Once 3 hippos appears, a white, long-legged bird will swoop down from their flock (seen flying in the background) and land onto the open mouth of the giant hippo on the right. After awhile, the hippo will closed its mouth and trapped the bird inside. Humorously, the bird will thrash around and creating a cartoonish deformed effect on the hippo, causing it to open its mouth and release the bird shortly after.

Certain background animals can react depending on where a player character has been knocked down. On the rightmost side, the entire meerkats colony will falling over and scatters around their rock, before getting up and resume spectating. At the center of the stage, the frolicking hippos couple can falling over to their side.
