Description[]

TigerUppercutSFxT

Sagat delivering a devastating Tiger Uppercut to Cammy during Tiger Genocide.

Executed by performing two half-circle forward motions and pressing kick (or punch in Super Street Fighter II Turbo), Sagat starts with a Tiger Knee, and finishes with a Tiger Uppercut that knocks down the enemy while inflicting a lot of damage. The Level 3 version from the Alpha series (as well as the version used in the EX series) uses two Tiger Uppercuts.

The Street Fighter IV series introduced a more powerful variant as one of Sagat's Ultra Combos, which may have been inspired by the Level 3 Tiger Genocide seen in the Alpha series, however, Tiger Genocide returns in Street Fighter X Tekken as Sagat's Super Art, wich shows Sagat throwing in the opposite-hand flaming Tiger Uppercut at the end of the Super Art, just the same as he performs the end of that more powerful variant from the Street Fighter IV series.

Origin[]

Years before Street Fighter Alpha, Sagat first used this move in his tenth sparring match with Adon. It was the first time that Adon was able to bring Sagat to his knees in battle. Sagat felt the growth of his student. However, after seeing Adon's reaction, Sagat was furious. He then unleashed Tiger Genocide, crushing the bones of the whole body. Adon was seriously injured for a total of four months, and it would take another year and a half before he could fight Sagat again.[1][2]

Prior to Street Fighter IV, it has temporary invincibility during its startup, which makes it quite useful to put opponents back on the defensive.

The move can act as an anti-air, as a punish, and within combos as a combo ender in some games. In the Street Fighter IV series, it can be used after a crumpling Focus Attack or as a juggle.
