The Gekiro (逆瀧, "Opposing Waterfall") is one of Gen's special attacks in his Mantis style, introduced in Street Fighter Alpha 2.

DescriptionEdit

Executed by performing a Shoryuken motion and pressing kick, Gen performs an upward flying dropkick. The attack does not end there however; if the player continues to tap the kick button at precisely-timed intervals, Gen will continue to kick in a "pedalling" motion as he continues to ascend. The subsequent kicks must be precisely timed, as the opponent must not be knocked out of reach nor allowed to fall.

With perfect timing, the attack can reach a maximum of 6, 7, or 8 hits (with light, medium, and heavy kick respecitvely), including the initial dropkick. The EX Special version introduced in the Street Fighter IV games allows a larger window for the followup kicks, making it easier to land all 8 hits.
