Mighty Final Fight (マイティ ファイナルファイト Maiti Fainaru Faito?), released in 1993, is a beat 'em up game in the Final Fight series. It is based on the original 1989 arcade game but it stands out from the original with its super-deformed character designs, in which the characters are depicted in a comical child-like manner. All three of the main characters from the original game are featured in this game, along with childlike counterparts of the enemies.
Metro City, the crime capital of the world, has been overwhelmed by corruption and violence. At the center of the problem lies the Mad Gear Gang, a merciless band of punks and thugs that controls the city with an iron fist. But Belger, the leader of the gang, wants more than just the city. He has fallen in love with the mayor's daughter, Jessica, and he's going to do whatever it takes to have her.
Belger has plans to marry Jessica and take control of the whole city, but one man stands in the way. After learning that his daughter was kidnapped, Mike Haggar gets in a fighting mood and he's ready to crack some skulls to get her back. Joining him in the rescue are his friends Guy, a highly trained ninjutsu fighter, and Cody, Jessica's longtime boyfriend and a martial artist. Together, nothing is going to stop them from getting Jessica back and restoring peace to Metro City.
Similar to the original Final Fight the player can choose one of the three available characters to control: Guy, Cody, and Haggar, each with his own fighting style and attributes. Guy is the weakest but has faster attacks, Haggar is the strongest but also the slowest, and Cody has all-round attributes.
The controls consists of a directional control pad and two buttons for attacking and jumping. The player character can move in any direction, but can only face and attack to the left or right like in most beat-'em-ups. Pressing both buttons simultaneously performs a special move that attacks in both directions, though it uses a little vitality. Players can also grab and throw opponents, as well as use various items and weapons.
Instead of a score system, this version has a new feature where the player's character gains experience by defeating enemies and levels up, improving his stats. The level increases up to 6. Each character requires a different amount of experience to level up:
|Character||Exp to next Level|
|Haggar||Starts at Level 3||125||193||370|
|Left or Right + Attack (when standing next to enemy)||Over the Shoulder Throw||Back Roll Toss||Suplex|
|Jump, then Attack (while in mid-air)||Jump Kick||Jump Kick||Body Squat|
|Jump, then Down+Attack (while in mid-air)||Knee Drop||Elbow Drop||Pile Driver|
|Attack (with a grabbed enemy)||Knee Bash||Knee Bash||Head Butt|
|Attack + Jump (simultaneously)||Super Kick||Super Kick||Spinning Clothesline|
Attack then quickly press Forward
|Tornado Sweep||Tornado Kick||Running Clothesline|
- The character's Strength Meter will go down every time the Super Kick or Spinning Clothesline is used.
- The Special Move only becomes available when the character reaches Level 4.
Mighty Final Fight consists of five stages or "rounds", as well as two Bonus Stages. Each round takes place in a different section of Metro City such as the slums and the riverside. At the end of each round the player will face a boss character.
