Executed by performing a quarter-circle backward motion and pressing punch, the attack is an overhead karate chop. The startup and effect depends on the punch button pressed. The light punch version comes out the fastest but does the least damage, the heavy punch version comes out the slowest, does the most damage, and causes knockdown. The medium punch version is a balance of the two. All versions cause knockdown against airborne opponents. In the Street Fighter IV series, this move has Armor Breaking properties.
The EX Special version comes out very quickly and causes knockdown like the heavy punch version does.
